The Missing Piece

As I planted myself into my lazy chair
Thought about how I'd like to do my hair and I
Wondered what I would have to eat and drink
Then gave thought to just what clothes to wear

I wasted time pondering useless things
Never once realizing it was all in vain
Til I made it through my day with all my plans
And at the end I was as empty as I began

Then I cried
How quickly I forget that my life is nothing
In comparison to the grand scheme of eternity
Filling an empty hole in my chest with anything
Everything but the missing piece
